Rivara is a contemporary hotel set on the riverbank in Weligama, on the south coast of Sri Lanka: two storeys, a pool in the garden and tall trees running down to the water.

Pale wood slats, stone and floor-to-ceiling glazing shape light-filled volumes: an open lounge, a breakfast room facing the garden, a sculptural staircase, natural materials and linen. Just five rooms across two categories — a deliberate choice: to host few guests, and host them truly.
